3D Environment Artist – Job Opening

We are looking for a 3D Environment Artist (Intermediate, Senior, Lead) to join our team, who will have a major role in shaping our next title. They will collaborate primarily with the Art Director and the Level Designer in order to create compelling 3D environments for our next title that adhere to the game’s core vision and align with its narrative.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Primary focus on crafting 3D environments while collaborating with the rest of the art team. Assets could include (but are not limited to): terrain, structures, props, lighting, and texturing.
  • Shepherd art assets all the way through the environment pipeline, from proxy to game-ready hi-res pieces.
  • Work closely with the Art Director to ensure assets fit artistic vision.
  • Coordinate with the Level Designer to ensure environment fits gameplay and scenario goals.
  • Collaborate with the narrative team to ensure assets properly align with the game’s story.
  • Ensure that all environment assets are properly optimized for a variety of platforms.
  • Work in a compatible software toolset for project pipeline: 3ds Max or Maya.
  • Be an effective collaborator with the entire team.
  • Meet deadlines consistently.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years in a similar role in the game industry.
  • At least 1 shipped title.
  • Expert level of proficiency in Maya or 3ds Max, and Photoshop.
  • Expert proficiency in 3D modeling, with a strong knowledge of lighting, texturing, and optimization.
  • Strong proficiency in Substance and Zbrush, a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 4, a plus.
  • Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Extremely strong collaborative skills.
  • Robust and up-to-date knowledge of the game industry, with a focus on current 3D art practices and trends.
